Glass is becoming one of the major necessities in the modern world living. The aesthetical factor which it provides enables the end user to prefer glass over other materials. Glass beautifies your surroundings. Its eco friendly & climate friendly .Thus in today’s world, Glass is the foremost need for any architectural or modern living applications. But with glass the first and foremost factor to be remembered is Safety & Security. To answer all you safety and security concerns welcome to the world of “SWAS Tuff” Toughened Glass. SWAS TUFF Toughened Glass is strong, has enhanced thermal resistance, and breaks into small cuboids’ fragments rather than irregular shards of glass and therefore is less likely to cause injury.
SWAS heat-strengthened glass is approximately twice as strong as annealed glass of similar thickness and configuration. Heat-strengthened glass generally fractures in a manner similar to annealed glass and tends to remain in the opening when broken. It is intended for general glazing where additional strength and/or resistance to mechanical and/or thermal stress are desired. Heat-strengthened glass is NOT a safety glazing product and therefore should not be used where safety glazing is required.
When multiple glass panes or "lites" are assembled into units, they are commonly referred to as insulated glass, double glazing, Double Glazed Units (UK and Europe) or Insulating Glass Units (IGU) (North America and Australia). These units use the thermal and acoustic insulating properties of a gas (or vacuum) contained in the space formed by the unit. They can provide good insulation without sacrificing transparency (visual transmittance (VT)). Single glazed tinted and reflective glasses can provide similar thermal insulation, but for the same insulation performance are harder to see through and provide little protection against unwanted sound.
Laminated glass is a sandwich made of one piece of plastic Poly Vinyl Butyral between two or more glasses. The PVB sticks with the glass, forms chemical as well as mechanical bonds. When laminated with annealed glass, the layer maintains the geometric integrity of the pane in case of breakage. Also it gives acoustic insulation as well as gives protection against damage caused due to UV radiation because it cuts almost 99% of UV radiation present in the sunlight. A Laminated glass is regarded as a safety glass by most of the standards. The PVB is always in the thickness of .38 mm And/or the multiple of .38 mm.
Ceramic fritted glass consists of a ceramic based paint screen printed onto clear, tinted, patterned or reflective glass (Pyrolytic only). It can also be referred to as colour clad, ceramic fired, ceramic backed or even an opacified glass. Ceramic fritted glass has a major use in building cladding. Its main function is to match or contrast vision panels where an all glass facade is desired. The glass is heat strengthened or toughened which fuses the paint to the glass creating a permanent durable coating. The benefit of heat strengthening is apparent, where upon breakage, the glass tends to fragment into large pieces and stay intact in the opening or framework.
Heat Soaking is a destructive process in which a pane of tempered glass is subjected to temperatures up to 280° C for several hours over a specific temperature gradient to induce fracture. This test insures that if there is probability of breakage then the infected panes break inside the furnace at the factory itself. Up to 95 % panes are usually destroyed inside the heat soak chamber at the factory premises and hence reduce the chances of onsite breakages.
Laminated glass offers different types of security protection: it is therefore important to determine the protection we are interested in. There are many types of security: bullet resistance, bomb blast resistance, fire resistance, etc. Various combinations and types of interlayers and glass produce different effects. Several layers of glass and vinyl (PVB) combined together offer greater protection. And then the thickness of the glass determines the security of the laminated unit. For example, bullet-resistance laminated glass uses a particular combination of glasses and interlayers to absorb high-powered ballistic force without shattering or being penetrated.
SWAS Flat Glass provides fire-rated glazing. Fire glass blocks heat, protecting people and valuables on the non-fire side of the glass where heat transfer might be a concern. It is used for doors and walls and can protect an area for up to 1 hour, saving and protecting people and property should the unthinkable happen.
Curved and laminated glass for high security applications in both clear and colour combinations. Each bend glass annealed to provide high mechanical strength. We bend glass for all types of applications, including limousines, sunroofs, truck caps, conversion vans, residential/aquariums, commercial furnishings, marine glazing and fixturing.
We hold expertise in the designing and manufacturing shower enclosures that can blend into the bathroom décor of homes, resorts and hotels. These shower enclosures are perfectly finished using qualitative accessories like hinges, handles and latches to enhance its functionality.
Glass table tops are used in a number of different ways, but the most popular is to use the glass to protect the surface of a table, desk, or a coffee table. When used as a cover on a wood surface, normally a thinner glass such as 1/4" is used. The edges of the glass would normally be polished to smooth them out and avoid the possibility of injury from the sharp edges. When glass is used as a wood surface cover there is no need for tempering the glass.
'Engineered Glass' has progressed rapidly over the past few years. No longer used only in windows, it is now used in Glass staircase designs, glass treads, glass railing, glass walls, glass pool fences, glass deck rail as well as structural glass bridges and other glass walking surfaces.
